We are a state-of-the-art orthodontic office located in the heart of Encino, California, dedicated to providing exceptional orthodontic care and creating a welcoming environment for our patients. We are seeking a motivated, skilled, and enthusiastic Orthodontic Assistant (OA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our growing team.
The Orthodontic Assistant is a key member of our clinical team, responsible for delivering excellent chairside care and supporting our orthodontist in providing a smooth, comfortable, and efficient patient experience. This role combines hands-on clinical skills, patient interaction, and a commitment to outstanding patient care.
Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following infection control protocols using aseptic techniques.
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as braces placement, adjustments, and other dental treatments.
- Take and develop X-rays, including digital radiographs and 3D scans, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
- Manage patient records ensuring all documentation complies with applicable regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance to maximize efficiency during procedures.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment care using clear dental terminology.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history updates to ensure patient safety during treatments.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Orthodontic Assistant (OA).
- Proven experience in Orthodontics practice.
- Proficiency with dental software, imaging, medical documentation and records management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate X-ray/Panoramic/Cephalometric machines safely and accurately; certification in radiography is required.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry concepts and working with young patients is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages using appropriate medical terminology.
- Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
- Ability to speak multiple languages a plus
