Description\n

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP certification and at least 2 years of experience, including 1 year of acute care and hospital experience, for a pediatric position at a children's hospital.

Details\n

  • Children's hospital setting within the Speech-Language Pathology Pediatrics unit
  • \n

  • Acute care work with pediatric patients including PICU cases
  • \n

  • Treats conditions such as autism, developmental delays, hearing impairments, language disorders, TBI, and dysphagia
  • \n

  • Performs dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations and modified barium swallow studies
  • \n

  • Utilizes adaptive equipment such as augmentative communication devices, communication boards, and memory aides
  • \n

  • Uses evaluation tools such as CELF, PLS-4, Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale, and WAB
  • \n

  • Epic EMR system used for charting
  • \n

  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • \n

  • May float to different departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed
  • \n

Requirements\n

  • CCC-SLP certification required
  • \n

  • BLS certification required
  • \n

  • License required if applicable
  • \n

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an SLP required
  • \n

  • At least 1 year of hospital experience required
  • \n

  • Acute care experience required
  • \n

  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • \n

  • Epic charting experience required
  • \n

  • Children's hospital, pediatric outpatient, pediatric rehabilitation facility, and PICU experience preferred
  • \n

  • Community hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • \n

Additional Information\n

  • Responsibilities include patient assessment, evaluation, treatment planning, discharge planning, and reassessments
  • \n

  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions with related documentation
  • \n

  • Provides patient and family education on therapy goals and safety
  • \n

  • Trained to recognize signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse
  • \n

  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as traveling candidates
  • \n

  • Candidates with prior employment at any University of California medical facility must disclose full employment history including dates, units, and manager names for a rehire eligibility review
  • \n

  • Two references from the most recent employer required for consideration
  • \n

  • Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work on the same unit
  • \n

  • All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to start, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract
  • \n

  • Time off cannot be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • \n
