Position Overview
RISE Academy is seeking a part-time, in-person After-School Program Coordinator to support and lead our after-school program at our campus in San Jose, California.
The After-School Program Coordinator will report to the Head of Development and will provide leadership, supervision, and support for a holistic, multi-age after-school program serving students Monday through Thursday from 2:45 PM to 5:15 PM.
The Coordinator will help create a safe, structured, engaging, and nurturing environment that educates, enriches, and inspires students beyond the regular school day.

Responsibilities
The After-School Program Coordinators responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and implement the daily after-school program in alignment with the schools mission, values, and expectations.
- Create a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for students across multiple age groups.
- Lead academic, cultural, recreational, and enrichment activities, including preparing necessary supplies and materials.
- Supervise students in classrooms, activity areas, outdoor spaces, and other designated program locations.
- Use age-appropriate methods rooted in positive youth development principles.
- Maintain a safe environment and respond appropriately to student needs, conflicts, injuries, or emergencies.
- Communicate with school staff, parents, and administrators regarding program activities, student needs, behavior, academic support, and events.
- Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and rapport with students, families, staff, and community members.
- Support the promotion of the after-school program, including assisting with basic marketing materials and family communication.
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Support off-site after-school field trips, when applicable.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the after-school program and other duties as assigned, with the possibility of additional hours depending on program needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with students in a recreational, educational, school, or community youth setting.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Strong communication, organization, and supervision skills.
- Familiarity with quality practices for after-school or youth development programs.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, professionalism, sound judgment, and sensitivity to the needs of students and families.
- Ability to respond calmly and swiftly in critical incidents or emergency situations.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and actively supervise students for extended periods of time.
- Physical ability to lead, supervise, and participate in structured indoor and outdoor student activities.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including program supplies, activity materials, and other items as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience working with children in an educational or youth development environment.
- Experience planning or coordinating student activities, enrichment programming, or after-school programming.
- Experience working with students across multiple grade levels.
Compensation
Compensation is based on experience, education, certifications, and the scope of assigned responsibilities. Children of eligible staff members may qualify for tuition discounts in accordance with RISE Academys staff discount policy.
