Clinical Laboratory Scientist I - Simply Biotech

Immediate opening for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I in Vista, California who possesses:

• Current and valid California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) or Clinical Chemistry Scientist (CCS)
• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology (or Associate degree in laboratory science/medical technology with a current CLS license)
• At least 2 years of general laboratory or relevant laboratory testing experience (total experience in school and industry qualifies)

*The Clinical Laboratory Scientist I is responsible for performing high-complexity testing and analysis of patient samples within the Flow and Immunochemistry departments. Operating in a professional laboratory environment, this role ensures all clinical testing adheres strictly to regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will review test data, manage quality control, and operate sophisticated laboratory instrumentation to deliver accurate results that directly impact patient care.*

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Conducting quality laboratory testing, including analysis, review, and reporting of Flow and Immunochemistry results in accordance with approved laboratory procedures
• Performing quality control procedures, interpreting clinical values (including critical values and delta checks), and determining when test results are reportable
• Operating, maintaining, and calibrating assigned laboratory equipment, which may include Flow Cytometers, Quantalyzers, NOVAView, automated washers, and centrifuges
• Documenting quality control results, out-of-range findings, and corrective actions appropriately while managing testing batches in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Assisting with the investigation and resolution of complaints, analytical issues, and system performance concerns, as well as troubleshooting instrument deficiencies
• Monitoring, managing, and maintaining sample storage, reagents, and supply inventory for the department

The selected candidate will also possess:

• Current and valid California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) or Clinical Chemistry Scientist (CCS)
• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology (or Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with a current CLS license)
• At least 2 years of general laboratory or relevant laboratory experience (total experience in school and industry qualifies)
• Strong knowledge of accepted clinical laboratory practices, safety procedures, handling of potentially infectious materials, and California laws relating to medical technology
• Ability to work assigned schedule and overtime hours as needed
• Analytical problem-solving skills, proficiency in performing detailed tasks thoroughly, and strong computer skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to chemical, biological, and general safety protocols in a standard laboratory environment
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, and perform detailed hand work during clinical testing
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, adjusting focus, and viewing computer monitors for extended periods
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

Salary Range: $55-$69/hour
