Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D/PP experience and the ability to circulate for C-sections.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with 9 L&D beds and 4 postpartum beds
- Unit averages approximately 55 births per month
- Patient population includes high-risk deliveries at 34 weeks gestation and above, with strong emphasis on individualized birth plans
- Candidates must have experience in both L&D and Postpartum, as floating between the two units is required
- Must be able to circulate for C-sections
- Fetal monitoring uses the Fetal Link system; telemetry uses Philips
- EMR: Cerner (experience required)
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts (6p–6a)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- OB and Neonatologist are on-call (not in-house)
- OB tech support available on both day and night shifts
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacy after-hours (after 10pm) handled offsite
- Charge nurse is present and does not carry a patient assignment
- Staffing follows AWHONN nurse-to-patient ratio guidelines
Requirements
- Active CA RN license, currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Required certifications (all must be active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN)
- Minimum 2 years of L&D/PP experience required
- Experience in both Labor & Delivery and Postpartum required
- Ability to circulate for C-sections required
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- COVID vaccine required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Orientation consists of 3 floor-specific shifts
- Holiday shifts will be integrated into the permanent staff rotation
- Hospital-provided scrubs
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
