Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to oversee core financial operations and maintain accurate, timely reporting for a public-sector environment in Moreno Valley, California. This Long-term Contract position will lead day-to-day accounting activities, support month-end close, and help ensure the integrity of general ledger and fund-level records. The role also works closely with internal teams, external agencies, and audit partners to promote strong financial controls and responsive service.

Responsibilities:
• Lead daily accounting functions and monitor financial activity to maintain complete and accurate records.
• Prepare monthly financial reports that clearly present receipts, disbursements, and the overall financial status of the organization and related entities.
• Manage general ledger activity, including review of postings, oversight of special fund accounting, and resolution of account discrepancies.
• Perform and review bank and account reconciliations, investigating variances and ensuring timely correction of outstanding issues.
• Create, examine, and approve journal entries to support accurate month-end close and financial reporting.
• Support automated accounting applications by assisting with testing, validation, and issue resolution for processes that affect financial data.
• Partner with departments, government entities, and community stakeholders on accounting matters, ensuring clear communication and coordinated follow-through.
• Respond professionally to inquiries related to accounts payable, budgeting, and other finance topics from internal and external parties.
• Assist with audits, compliance activities, and special finance projects while reinforcing established accounting policies and reporting standards.• At least 2 years of accounting experience, including leadership or advanced-level responsibility in an accounting environment.
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.
• Experience preparing financial statements and supporting financial statement audits.
• Knowledge of fund accounting and public sector, municipal, or government finance is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when managing financial records and deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across departments and with external agencies or the public.
