Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $35–$38/hour

Schedule

  • Shift: Days
  • Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: Rotating Saturdays (1–2 Saturdays per month, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 40 Guaranteed Hours
  • On-Call: None
  • Float Requirement: None
  • Work Setting: 100% Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to support a busy ophthalmology practice by performing comprehensive ophthalmic testing, assisting physicians during patient examinations, and delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience with advanced diagnostic testing, Optos imaging, and Epic EMR while maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive ophthalmic diagnostic testing and vision assessments.
  • Conduct clinical optics and ocular motility evaluations.
  • Perform visual field examinations.
  • Complete keratometry and corneal topography testing.
  • Perform A-Scans and Schirmer tests.
  • Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations, diagnostic testing, and procedures.
  • Operate Optos retinal imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, test results, and clinical information in Epic EMR.
  • Assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations and minor office procedures.
  • Educate patients regarding testing procedures and follow-up care.
  • Maintain examination rooms, ophthalmic equipment, and supplies.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Ophthalmic Technician experience.
  • Experience with Optos retinal imaging required.
  • Experience using Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) required.

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Ophthalmic Technician certification or license, as required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Additional Information

  • 13-week contract assignment.
  • 40 guaranteed hours per week.
  • Monday–Friday day shift with rotating Saturdays (1–2 per month).
