Job Title: Commercial Plumber
Job Description
This role focuses on commercial plumbing for new construction and tenant improvement projects across the Bay Area. You will perform full plumbing installations on private sector commercial projects, including upcoming work in Emeryville and San Francisco. The position requires at least two years of commercial plumbing experience and the ability to work independently at a journeyman level while collaborating with on-site foremen and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Install complete waste, drain, and vent systems for commercial new construction projects.
- Install and connect water lines throughout commercial buildings, ensuring proper layout and functionality.
- Work with a variety of piping materials, including cast iron, plastic, and copper, selecting appropriate materials for each application.
- Install and service various types of valves as part of complete plumbing systems.
- Perform soldering and brazing on copper and other applicable materials to ensure secure and leak-free connections.
- Install insulation on piping, perform proper strapping, and conduct testing of systems to verify performance and code compliance.
- Complete full commercial plumbing installations independently, from underground to rough-in and finish stages.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan and execute plumbing installations accurately.
- Perform fixture installation and repair, including commercial plumbing fixtures and related components.
- Follow a defined multi-step process to complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
- Coordinate daily tasks with the on-site foreman and work effectively with crews ranging from small teams to larger groups.
- Maintain and use personal plumbing hand tools appropriately and keep them in good working condition.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial plumbing experience.
- Experience with commercial new construction or tenant improvement (TI) projects.
- Journeyman-level commercial plumbing skills, including the ability to complete full installations independently.
- Proficiency in installing waste, drain, and vent systems, as well as water lines in commercial settings.
- Ability to work with cast iron, plastic, copper, and similar piping materials.
- Strong skills in soldering and brazing for commercial plumbing applications.
- Ability to install and work with various types of valves within commercial plumbing systems.
- Capability to install insulation, perform strapping, and test plumbing systems thoroughly.
- Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints and construction drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, lead tasks, and work without constant direction.
- Ownership and regular use of personal plumbing hand tools appropriate for commercial work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on underground, rough-in, and finish phases of commercial plumbing projects.
- Experience in plumbing fixture installation and repair in commercial environments.
- Comfort working on multiple types of private sector commercial projects across different locations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when interpreting plans and installing systems.
- Ability to collaborate with project foremen and teams of varying sizes.
- Reliability and flexibility to adapt to different start times and project schedules.

Work Environment
The company operates from a base in Hayward and focuses on projects within roughly 50 miles of that location, typically keeping jobs within 30–35 miles to reduce long commutes. Current projects are located in Emeryville, the East Bay, and San Francisco, with typical assignments lasting about 1–2 months per job depending on project phase. On-site, you report to a foreman and work alongside teams ranging from 2 to 10 coworkers. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with flexibility required to start between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. depending on the general contractor and job site. A company vehicle is not provided, so you will use your own vehicle to travel to job sites, and standard mileage reimbursement is available when you need to drive to the shop or multiple sites in a single day. The work is field-based on active construction sites, involving hands-on installation using personal plumbing hand tools and typical commercial construction equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
