Job Title: Production Planner / Production Planning Assistant
Job Description
This role supports a high-performing industrial plant by developing and maintaining production plans, managing SAP-based production processes, and overseeing inventory and material requirements. The position combines SAP production planning, operational reporting, and inventory management with field-based aerial drone survey activities to support accurate inventory tracking and site mapping. You will collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, procurement, and leadership teams to drive efficient, data-driven decision-making across the plant.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain weekly and monthly production schedules that align capacity, materials, and demand.
- Manage SAP production planning (PP), materials management (MM), and plant maintenance (PM) transactions, including process orders, bills of materials (BOMs), notifications, and master data updates.
- Monitor inventory levels, material requirements planning (MRP), and material planning to ensure adequate supply for production.
- Analyze production performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational trends to identify issues and improvement opportunities.
- Lead Daily Operational Report (DOR) meetings and clearly communicate production status, issues, and action items.
- Support month-end closing activities, including production reporting, inventory reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Contribute to forecasting and budget planning by providing accurate production and inventory data.
- Execute aerial drone surveys for inventory tracking and site mapping, following established safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain and manage survey data using Propeller or similar drone mapping platforms to ensure accurate and timely information.
- Troubleshoot SAP issues for plant users and provide day-to-day support to improve system usage and data quality.
- Identify and support SAP process improvements, working with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and other departments to align plans and resolve operational issues.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records related to production orders, inventory transactions, and operational reports.
- Communicate effectively with executive-level stakeholders, providing clear, concise updates on production performance and key metrics.
- Coordinate with shipping and logistics functions to ensure production plans align with outbound schedules and customer requirements.
- Apply advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills to create reports, dashboards, and analytical tools that support decision-making.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification is highly preferred or willingness to obtain it within a defined timeframe.
- Exposure to drone mapping, GIS, or platforms such as Propeller is a major plus.
- Experience in heavy industry such as cement, mining, aggregates, or manufacturing is preferred.
- Microsoft Office experience, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus and can support communication across diverse teams.
- Experience supporting process improvements in SAP or other ERP systems is beneficial.
- Comfort working with data entry tasks while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.

This is a Contract position based out of Tehachapi, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
