Job DescriptionA Management Resources client in East County San Diego is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role will support the accounting team with month-end close, reconciliations, payroll accounting, audit support, and general ledger activities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience with ASC 842 lease accounting, and exposure to grant accounting.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
Perform account reconciliations, including complex balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Review and reconcile payroll transactions and related accounts.
Support audit preparation by gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests.
Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Assist with financial reporting and variance analysis.
Support accounting for grants, including tracking expenditures and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
Maintain lease accounting schedules and related reporting under ASC 842.
Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and process issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support accounting operations and financial accuracy.
Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
Experience reviewing and reconciling payroll accounts.
Prior audit support or audit assistance experience.
Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting required.
Experience with grant accounting preferred.
Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience.
Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

CPA or CPA-track a plus.
Nonprofit, government, or grant-funded environment experience highly preferred.
