Job Description
As the Chief Scientific Officer at US Cannabis Labs, I oversee the scientific operations and analytical testing processes within the laboratory. My role involves ensuring that all laboratory activities meet regulatory compliance, quality standards, and operational efficiency for cannabis testing services.
Key Responsibilities
• Direct and supervise all laboratory scientific operations, including cannabis product testing and analytical research.
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical instruments such as High‐Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) (chatgpt://generic-entity?number=0), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP‐MS) (chatgpt://generic-entity?number=1), and other laboratory equipment.
• Ensure accurate testing of cannabis products for potency, heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, and contaminants according to regulatory standards.
• Maintain laboratory compliance with Bureau of Cannabis Control (chatgpt://generic-entity?number=2) and other applicable state regulations and quality systems.
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for cannabis and hemp product testing.
• Manage laboratory documentation, quality assurance procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Supervise laboratory staff, provide scientific guidance, and ensure proper training on analytical methods and instrument usage.
• Review and approve analytical data and laboratory reports to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
• Coordinate with service engineers and vendors for maintenance and repair of laboratory instruments.
• Investigate laboratory issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure laboratory safety standards, chemical handling procedures, and regulatory compliance are maintained.
• Work with financial and operational partners to support laboratory growth and operational efficiency.
