Job Description

Industry Leading Unique U.S. Company catering to Essential Industries:

We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead, grow, and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering organization responsible for designing, developing, and delivering advanced embedded‐firmware systems, servo motor technologies, and motor‐motion control platforms for industrial and defense applications.

This leader will oversee teams spanning embedded firmware, PCB/IC‐level electronics, servo motor design, AC drive development, and system‐level integration.

This role requires a hands‐on technical leader with deep experience in motion control, servo systems, and engineered electromechanical products—paired with strong people‐management, cross‐functional leadership, and external‐client communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and scale engineering teams across embedded firmware, PCB/IC design, servo motor engineering, and AC drive development.
  • Build a high‐performance culture focused on innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Drive hiring, performance management, career development, and organizational structure for all engineering groups.
  • Establish engineering best practices, design standards, and development processes.

Technical Ownership – Embedded & Electronics

  • Oversee development of embedded firmware for motor‐motion control systems, including real‐time control algorithms, safety logic, and communication protocols.
  • Guide teams designing PCB assemblies, mixed‐signal electronics, and IC‐level components used in servo and drive systems.
  • Ensure robust design reviews, validation, and compliance with industrial and DoD requirements.

Technical Ownership – Servo Motors & Motion Control

  • Lead engineering efforts for servo motor design, including electromagnetic design, rotor/stator architecture, winding strategies, and component selection.
  • Oversee development of AC drives, power electronics, and control architectures for precision motion systems.
  • Provide expertise in heating/cooling methods, thermal modeling, and environmental considerations for high‐performance motors.
  • Ensure reliability, manufacturability, and long‐term durability of motion‐control products.

Client-Facing Engineering & Program Delivery

  • Serve as the senior technical point of contact for external clients, integrators, and DoD program partners.
  • Oversee engineering deliverables including BOMs, part lists, AutoCAD drawings, schematics, and system documentation.
  • Support and lead FAT/SAT activities, system commissioning, and customer acceptance processes.
  • Coordinate cross‐functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and program management to ensure successful product delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electro‐Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in embedded systems, motion control, servo motors, or AC drive technologies.
  • 5+ years leading engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Proven experience with embedded firmware development for motor control (C/C++, RTOS, DSPs, microcontrollers).
  • Strong background in PCB design, mixed‐signal electronics, and IC‐level component integration.
  • Hands‐on experience with servo motor components, electromechanical design, and thermal management strategies.
  • Experience supporting industrial or DoD‐grade product development cycles.
  • Demonstrated success managing client‐facing engineering, including SAT/FAT, documentation packages, and ongoing technical communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MIL‐STD, ruggedization, or defense‐sector compliance.
  • Background in power electronics, inverters, or high‐precision motion systems.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar CAD tools.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM/DFA, and supply‐chain coordination.

Why Join Us

  • Lead a high‐impact engineering organization building mission‐critical motion‐control technologies.
  • Influence product strategy, architecture, and long‐term technical direction.
  • Work with cutting‐edge servo, embedded, and electromechanical systems for industrial and defense applications.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and long‐term growth opportunities.
