SPANISH TEACHER POSITION DESCRIPTION
LOCATION: Salem Lutheran School \t\t\t\t\tDEPARTMENT: K-8 Faculty
TITLE: Teacher - 5th-8th Spanish\t\t\t\t\tREPORTS TO: Principal
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Spanish, Education, or related field preferred
- Valid teaching credential (or actively pursuing one), preferably in Spanish or World Languages
- Full literacy and fluency in Spanish and English required
- Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school level preferred
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and Christian education
Employment Details
- Position Type: Part-Time, 10-Month Salaried Position (School Year)
- Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications

Position Purpose Statement
The purpose and function of the Spanish Teacher position at Salem Lutheran is to educate and minister to students in grades 5–8 by facilitating their spiritual, academic, and social-emotional growth through Spanish language instruction from a Christian worldview. This role aligns with the vision, mission, purpose, and core values of Salem Lutheran Church & School and seeks to develop students’ language proficiency, cultural understanding, and confidence as communicators.
Salem Teachers employ effective instructional and disciplinary methods and intentionally integrate the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and biblical principles in and through everything they do and say in relation to students, parents, families, colleagues, and volunteers. The Spanish program is designed to build a strong foundation in language acquisition and prepare students for continued success in high school coursework, including Honors and Advanced Placement pathways.

Position Relationships
Reports to the Principal with respect to achievement of all objectives of the school and works closely with the following:
- Other teachers and staff to optimize the effectiveness of all ministry efforts of Salem Lutheran Church & School;
- Parents and guardians to maximize the impact of learning and growth on students; and
- The Senior Pastor, the Director of Christian Education, and Director of Children and Family Ministries, as needed and appropriate.

- Develops students’ proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish
- Incorporates cultural learning to build global awareness and appreciation for Spanish-speaking communities
- Designs engaging, student-centered lessons that promote communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
- Differentiates instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assesses student learning regularly and maintains accurate grade records
- Prepares students for continued success in secondary Spanish coursework, including Honors and AP pathways
- Maintains an organized and effective classroom learning environment
- Implements curriculum and instructional practices that meet established standards
- Reflects on professional strengths and areas for growth
- Sets and pursues professional, spiritual, and personal wellness goals
- Collaborates with colleagues to strengthen instructional programs and student outcomes

Classroom and Specialty Teachers at Salem Lutheran are also responsible for integrating the Lutheran faith, a Christian worldview, and Christian character education for student growth as related to the unique Lutheran identity of Salem Lutheran.
Faith Integration Responsibilities
Teachers act intentionally to integrate the Christian faith, as it aligns with the beliefs and practices of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, throughout all instruction, the classroom environment, and communication with students, families, and colleagues.
