Accounting Clerk
Position Summary
Growing construction company in Riverside is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our accounting team. This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, invoice processing, and job cost support. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and able to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment with multiple projects running simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices and match purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments.
- Record customer payments and assist with accounts receivable collections.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and electronic filing systems.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Support project managers by tracking job costs and coding invoices to the appropriate projects.
- Enter payroll information and assist with payroll processing as needed.
- Prepare lien waivers, W-9 forms, and other construction-related documentation.
- Assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial records.
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within the construction industry.
- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles.
- Experience with job costing and construction accounting is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and accounting software such as Sage 100, Foundation, Viewpoint, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with subcontractor invoices, lien releases, certified payroll, and progress billing.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage and public works projects is a plus.
- Familiarity with AIA billing and construction contract documentation.
