Job Summary
\n
The Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized, evidence-based care for patients with complex wound, ostomy, and continence care needs in an acute care setting. Working collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Wound Care RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized treatment plans while serving as the facility's clinical resource for wound management and skin integrity.

This role requires independent clinical judgment and expertise in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of pressure injuries, surgical wounds, draining wounds, fistulas, ostomies, and incontinence-related skin conditions.

Key Responsibilities
\n

- Perform comprehensive wound, ostomy, and continence assessments for medically complex patients.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized wound care treatment plans.
- Conduct wound care consultations across multiple inpatient units as needed.
- Evaluate and manage:\n

- Pressure injuries and pressure ulcers
- Surgical and chronic wounds
- Draining wounds
- Fistulas
- Ostomies
- Tubes and drains
- Incontinence-associated skin damage

\n
\n
\n
- Perform routine patient rounds for wound and pressure injury evaluation as appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and providers on wound prevention, treatment, and best practices.
- Serve as the facility's wound care resource by providing clinical guidance and evidence-based recommendations.
- Promote skin integrity initiatives and assist with pressure injury prevention programs.

Patient Population
\n
The traveler will provide wound care consultations for patients throughout various inpatient units based on clinical need, including:

- Specialized wound management

Education Requirements
\n

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
\n
\n
Experience Requirements
\n
- \n
- Previous acute care clinical nursing experience preferred.
- Recent Wound Care RN experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing complex wounds, pressure injuries, and skin integrity issues in a hospital setting is highly desirable.

Licensure & Certifications
\n

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (Required)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved provider (Required)
- Wound Care Certification (WOCN, CWCN, or equivalent) preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within the facility's required timeframe.
