Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality precision parts in a busy machine shop environment. You will interpret blueprints and work instructions, perform accurate measurements and inspections, and ensure that all machining processes meet established standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines to produce parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, routers, and other technical documentation.
- Set up, edit, and run all facets of assigned work, including selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures.
- Inspect and measure parts using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools to maintain in-process control charts.
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments to machine controls.
- Ensure company procedures and best machining practices are consistently followed and maintained.
- Perform routine machine maintenance as required to ensure reliable operation.
- Respond to common inquiries and communicate effectively to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Demonstrate punctuality and a strong work ethic in all assigned tasks.
- Proactively seek opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to continuous improvement in machining processes.
Essential Skills
- 1–3 years of experience in CNC machining, preferably with HAAS, AKIRA SEIKI, and DOSSAN equipment.
- Proficiency in setting up CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, and program adjustments.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools such as micrometers, depth gauges, calipers, and indicators.
- Ability to perform in-process inspection of parts and maintain control charts.
- Experience working with CNC lathes and mills.
- Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to listen, ask clarifying questions, and respond effectively to instructions and inquiries.
- Reliable punctuality and a consistent, strong work ethic.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with HAAS, AKIRA SEIKI, and DOSSAN CNC machines.
- Experience as a lathe machinist or mill machinist in a production or job shop environment.
- Familiarity with shop documentation such as routers and work instructions.
- Proactive attitude toward learning new machining techniques and technologies.
- Interest in contributing to process improvements within a machining environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a machine shop environment with approximately 50 employees. You will work around CNC lathes and mills, including equipment such as HAAS, AKIRA SEIKI, and DOSSAN machines. Daily work involves the use of shop tools and inspection equipment such as micrometers, depth gauges, calipers, and indicators, as well as standard hand tools. The setting is industrial and hands-on, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and organized work areas. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morgan Hill, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
