Job Description
As a Metal Shop Supervisor, you will oversee daily operations within the Thermal Diffusion Galvanizing (TDG) department to ensure production schedules and customer deadlines are met. You will coordinate workflow, prioritize jobs, and monitor productivity to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily TDG department operations to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Coordinate workflow and prioritize jobs to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Monitor department productivity, labor utilization, and machine performance.
- Ensure proper setup, operation, and functionality of TDG equipment.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Monitor inventory of raw materials, tooling, consumables, and production supplies.
- Communicate production status, delays, and concerns to management.
- Verify production output meets job specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Ensure all products are inspected and quality-checked per guidelines.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and verify production run accuracy.
- Interpret job tickets, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
- Enforce ISO 9001 compliance, principles, and 5S practices.
- Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Train, coach, and develop TDG personnel on equipment, safety, quality, and procedures.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive employee relations.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety rules, and attendance standards.
- Address employee concerns and escalate disciplinary matters as appropriate.
- Assist with manpower planning and shift coverage.
- Coordinate with shipping, purchasing, engineering, and quality departments.
- Support scheduling priorities and customer delivery requirements.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably within metal processing, galvanizing, heat treat, or coating environments.
- 3–5 years of experience leading or supervising production teams in a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing setting.
- 3–5 years of experience in production scheduling, workflow coordination, quality control, and equipment oversight.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in galvanizing, metal finishing, heat treatment, or surface coating operations preferred.
- Experience in ISO 9001 compliance and continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, production tracking, and manufacturing reporting tools preferred.

Work Environment
The Metal Shop Supervisor will work in an industrial manufacturing environment within the TDG department. The work area may experience temperature variations due to weather conditions and heat generated by thermal diffusion furnaces and processing equipment. Employees must be comfortable working around industrial machinery on the production floor for a full shift, adhering to all safety and PPE requirements.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburg, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
