Position Title: Endourology

Salary Range: The established salary scales at our organization indicate the minimum compensation based on the type of appointment, and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base salary for this role ranges from $250,000 to $500,000, with annual negotiations for salary. Additional compensation may be available for those included in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Position Description

Our organization’s School of Medicine, specifically the Department of Urology, is dedicated to fostering academic excellence among faculty, staff, and students. We are looking for faculty members who specialize in endourology and minimally invasive urologic surgery to become part of a large, collaborative, and multidisciplinary program.

The selected candidates will oversee patient care from a diverse referral network and will provide clinical services at various locations, including the VA Health Care System in San Diego. Clinical duties will encompass a wide range of endourologic procedures, including ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), management of complex nephrolithiasis, interventions for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and advanced minimally invasive techniques.

Additionally, the successful candidates will engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, while also participating in scholarly activities that promote advancements in endourology and surgical innovation. This role offers a vibrant academic setting with opportunities for developing clinical programs and taking on leadership roles in a rapidly growing specialty area.

Note: Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a participant in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, appointees should be aware of restrictions on outside professional activities, with clinical moonlighting explicitly prohibited.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications (required at time of application):
    • Possession of an MD or equivalent degree, or an MD/PhD in a health-related field.
    • Board certification or eligibility in Urology.
    • Eligibility for a California medical license or equivalent certification as determined by the California Medical Board.
    • Completion of a Urology residency program.
  • Additional Qualifications (required at time of start):
    • Completion of an Endourology fellowship or equivalent advanced training in minimally invasive urologic surgery and/or complex stone disease by the start date of the appointment.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • A demonstrated or emerging record of scholarly activity in endourology is preferred.
