About the Role
The CNC Programmer / Prototyping Specialist will be responsible for the full machining process for R&D and development projects, from programming and setup through machining, inspection, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support the prototyping department and machining processes.
- Collaborate with Engineering on R&D projects and provide manufacturing feasibility feedback.
- Develop CNC programs, setups, and machining processes for prototype and production parts.
- Program and operate 5-axis Matsuura, Haas UMC, and Haas VF mills.
- Create detailed process documentation to ensure repeatability.
- Design and manufacture fixtures for improved process consistency.
- Develop Renishaw probing routines to improve productivity and automate quality processes.
- Create CMM inspection programs for R&D and development projects.
- Optimize machining strategies while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot CNC machines and machining processes.
- Communicate project timelines, estimates, and progress with internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with Quality Control to support metrology and inspection efforts.
- Operate CNC equipment as needed to support production demands.
Qualifications
- 4–6+ years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam.
- 4+ years of manufacturing or engineering technician experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associate degree in a technical or related field preferred.
- Strong CAD/CAM programming experience.
- Experience with CNC machining and prototyping.
- Experience with 5-axis machining strongly preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience with root cause analysis and process control.
- CMM programming and Renishaw probing experience.
