Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Two impactful contract opportunities are available: an in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Braillist. Your expertise can make a lasting difference in an educational setting located near San Jose, CA.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:

  • Current certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for educator candidates
  • Experience adapting curriculum and providing direct instruction to students with visual impairments
  • Proficiency in Braille transcription and the use of braille-writing equipment for braillist candidates
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with staff, families, and support teams
  • Previous experience in a school setting is a plus
  • Commitment to student inclusion and individualized support

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments (for TVI role)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to adapt and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Produce accurate and timely braille materials to support students’ access to the curriculum (for Braillist role)
  • Utilize assistive technology and orientation/mobility strategies as needed
  • Advocate for student needs and inclusion within the wider school community
  • Maintain documentation and progress reports as required
