Overall Purpose:
The Manufacturing Test Technician is responsible for the testing, troubleshooting, repair, and
rework of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) during engineering and production builds. This
role works closely with NPI and Design Engineering teams to ensure products meet quality,
functional, and reliability requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform functional and electrical testing of PCBAs and electronic assemblies according to engineering test procedures.
- Execute board-level troubleshooting to isolate and identify component- or circuit-level failures.
- Perform PCB rework and repairs, including component removal and replacement using approved manufacturing methods.
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Operate electronic test equipment including:
- Digital multimeters
- Oscilloscopes
- Bench power supplies
- Electronic loads
- Signal/function generators
- Accurately document test results, failures, repairs, and rework activities.
- Work with NPI/Manufacturing and Design Engineers to identify root causes of failures and verify corrective actions.
- Support engineering builds, pilot production, and manufacturing validation activities.
- Follow established ESD, IPC, quality, and safety procedures.
- Assist with maintaining test stations, fixtures, and laboratory equipment.
- Provide feedback to improve manufacturing test procedures and work instructions.
Qualification Requirements:
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Experience and Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies or PCBAs.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and assembly documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills down to the component level.
- Experience performing PCB rework and repair.
- Proficient with digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Soldering and rework experience for:
- 0402 passive components (0201 experience is a plus)
- SOIC, QFP, QFN, TSSOP, and similar SMT packages
- Through-hole components
- Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards (IPC-A-610 preferred)
- Understanding of analog and digital electronics fundamentals.
- Experience using hand soldering and hot-air rework equipment.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Experience using stereo microscopes or other magnification equipment for inspection and
- fine-pitch soldering.
- Experience supporting medical device manufacturing environment.
- IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-7711/7721 certification.
- Experience with engineering prototype builds and NPI activities.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
