Job DescriptionPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead and oversee complex construction projects from planning through completion. This role requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate teams, manage budgets and schedules, ensure compliance, and maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders. The ideal candidate is strategic, detail-oriented, and passionate about driving results through collaboration and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management

Supervise and mentor project personnel, including engineers and field staff, by setting performance goals and providing consistent feedback.

Establish clear expectations, delegate responsibilities effectively, and ensure team alignment with company objectives.

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across project teams.
Pre-Construction
-
Participate in turnover meetings between estimating and operations to ensure complete understanding of project scope and objectives.

Review project documents, bid estimates, contracts, design plans, and schedules to identify potential risks or opportunities.

Develop preliminary budgets and schedules in collaboration with superintendents and foremen, and secure executive approval.

Lead interdepartmental kickoff meetings to coordinate resources across accounting, purchasing, safety, logistics, and other departments.

Negotiate material, subcontract, and vendor agreements in coordination with procurement staff.
Construction Phase

Oversee daily project execution, ensuring field operations adhere to design requirements, safety protocols, and budget goals.

Collaborate with clients and project teams to maintain optimal field conditions and timely issue resolution.

Support field leadership with safe work planning, job hazard analyses, and regulatory compliance.

Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and incident reviews to reinforce safe and productive operations.

Identify and manage project changes or impacts; ensure appropriate notifications and equitable cost or schedule adjustments.

Review and approve invoices, track project expenses, and maintain accurate cost projections.

Monitor project progress through weekly production reviews, analyze trends, and implement recovery or improvement plans.

Prepare and negotiate change orders, manage documentation, and update cost forecasts regularly.
Post-Construction
-
Lead project closeout, including punch list completion, documentation, and coordination with accounting and compliance teams.

Negotiate final change orders and confirm the release of retention and warranties.

Conduct project debriefs to capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered.

Minimum of five years of experience managing commercial, heavy civil, or underground utility projects.

Strong understanding of contract administration, public works compliance, and AIA construction documentation.

Skilled in cost forecasting, scheduling, and resource management.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in project management and construction software, including SAGE 300, Bluebeam, B2W, and Microsoft Office 365.

Demonstrated leadership, discretion, and independent judgment in managing multiple priorities.

Combination of office and field settings.

Ability to perform light physical activity such as walking, climbing, standing, and stooping on active job sites.

Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. and work outdoors in variable conditions.
