What you will be doing:
- Design mixed-signal, analog, and digital electronic hardware
- Design and troubleshoot power electronic hardware, including power conversion circuits, switching devices, protection circuits, current sensing, transient protection, and thermal management considerations
- PCB design using Altium Designer
- Create, maintain, and release electrical engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Circuit simulation using LTspice, hardware troubleshooting, board bring-up, and design verification
- Design and troubleshoot communication interfaces, including CAN, RS-422, RS-485, and SPI
- Develop verification tests, analyzing test results, and preparing engineering documentation
- Utilize laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, current probes, power analyzers, and digital multimeters
- Electronic hardware assembly, modification, and rework activities, including soldering, component replacement, prototype modifications, and hardware troubleshooting
What you need to qualify:
- 10+ years of experience in electrical/electronic hardware design and development
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline required
- Experience developing electronic hardware throughout the product lifecycle, including concept development, design, verification, qualification, and production release
- Hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, and validating electronic hardware, including board bring-up, laboratory testing, and hardware integration
- Ability to support qualification testing at external test facilities and travel as required (up to 15%)
- Experience working directly with external suppliers and partners, including PCB fabrication and assembly vendors, component manufacturers and distributors, and 3rd-party qualification test laboratories
- Strong experience designing mixed-signal, analog, and digital electronic hardware
- Strong hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting power electronic hardware, including power conversion circuits, switching devices, protection circuits, current sensing, transient protection, and thermal management considerations
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer
- Experience creating, maintaining, and releasing electrical engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Knowledge of IPC PCB design practices and electronic component selection
- Experience with circuit simulation using LTspice, hardware troubleshooting, board bring-up, and design verification
- Experience designing and troubleshooting communication interfaces: CAN, RS-422, RS-485, and SPI
- Experience developing verification tests, analyzing test results, preparing engineering documentation
- Proficiency using laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, current probes, power analyzers, and digital multimeters
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with electronic hardware assembly, modification, and rework activities, including soldering, component replacement, prototype modifications, and hardware troubleshooting
Preferred Experience and Skillsets:
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries
- Experience supporting DO-160 qualification testing
- Experience with aerospace electronic hardware development and DO-254 design assurance processes
- Experience supporting EMI/EMC compliance
- testing, troubleshooting, and corrective actions
- Hands-on experience designing motor drive electronics, including H-bridge topologies, MOSFET/IGBT gate drivers, current sensing circuits, protection circuits, and thermal management for high-power components
- Experience integrating and conditioning signals from motor feedback systems, including Hall effect sensors, encoders, resolvers, and phase current sensing circuits
- Familiarity with embedded hardware/software integration
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles, including grounding, shielding, filtering, and transient protection techniques
