Compensation: $71,000 annually

Job Summary

Our client, a growing manufacturing and distribution organization in Gardena, CA, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to join their team. This is a full-time direct hire opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience supporting accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting processes within a manufacturing or distribution environment and the ability to work closely with finance, operations, warehouse, and procurement teams to support accurate and timely financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Apply customer payments and reconcile customer accounts
  • Monitor aging reports and assist with collections activities
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, deliveries, credits, and returns

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process vendor invoices for materials, freight, packaging, and operational expenses
  • Perform invoice verification and 3-way matching (purchase order, receipt, invoice)
  • Ensure proper coding of expenses and inventory-related costs
  • Maintain vendor records and assist with payment scheduling
  • Reconcile freight and logistics-related charges

Payroll Administration

  • Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Review timekeeping records, overtime, and shift differentials
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee deductions
  • Support payroll tax filings and compliance requirements
  • Partner with operations to ensure accurate labor tracking

Manufacturing Accounting & Inventory Support

  • Assist with inventory tracking and reconciliation for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
  • Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts
  • Help track labor, material costs, and cost of goods sold (COGS)
  • Identify and research inventory discrepancies

General Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and accounting records
  • Perform bank, credit card, and sub-ledger reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare financial reports and support audits

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Strong experience with AR, AP, and payroll processing
  • Manufacturing or distribution accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting and cost tracking
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data organization
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience with manufacturing costs, freight, logistics, or supply chain billing
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles
  • Experience supporting production or warehouse operations
