The Jr Materials Planner supports PCBA production by coordinating material planning, kit preparation, and data accuracy to ensure smooth manufacturing workflows. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role helps keep customer orders on schedule and meets delivery commitments. Ideal for an early-mid career professional, the position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and communication, with opportunities to develop foundational planning skills while supporting key customer accounts.
Primary Responsibilities:
Production & Material Planning
- Assist in creating and maintaining production schedules (daily, weekly, and monthly) for assigned customer programs in coordination with Production leadership
- Support planning of PCBA builds by helping align materials, labor, and equipment with customer demand and delivery timelines
- Coordinate with the stockroom to help ensure material kits are accurately pulled, staged, and ready for production
- Monitor Work In Process (WIP), identify potential delays, and support efforts to keep jobs moving through all stages of production
- Use ERP systems (e.g., Epicor) to update schedules, track material status, and maintain accurate production data
Customer & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Support assigned customer accounts by helping track materials and production schedules, serving as a point of contact for status updates
- Participate in internal and customer meetings to share updates on material availability, production progress, and delivery timelines
- Provide timely updates on work order and delivery status to Program/Project Managers and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Program Management, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Receiving, Stockroom, and Document Control—to support smooth program execution as part of the Customer Focus Team
Material Availability, Receiving & Shortage Management
- Support Buyers in tracking and helping resolve electronic component shortages, including assisting with expediting materials or identifying alternate parts when needed
- Coordinate with Receiving to ensure incoming materials are processed and made available in a timely manner to support production needs
- Monitor material status, including Last Part In (LPI), to help ensure readiness for production and on-time delivery
- Use ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor) to update data, track materials, and assist in identifying potential shortages or scheduling constraints
- Work with Engineering to help track and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to materials and production planning
- Partner with Document Control to maintain accurate part numbers, revisions, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the system
- Collaborate with Quality to track material holds or issues and support updates to production schedules as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a materials planner, scheduler, or supply chain coordinator
- Strong, hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems; experience with Epicor is highly preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Experience in manufacturing industry, contract manufacturing
- Able to work and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-mix, high-change environment
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited university in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field
- EMS/PCBA experience strongly preferred
- APICS certification
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings
- Current IPC-J-STD-001 Certification (with Space Addendum preferred)
- IPC-A-610 Certification
