Job Title: PreWeigh Operator Cosmetic Manufacturing



Department: Compounding Support
Reports To: Pre-Weigh Supervisor

Position Summary

The PreWeigh Operator is responsible for accurately weighing and preparing cosmetic raw materials according to batch formulas and company procedures. This role ensures that the compounding department receives the correct, clearly labeled ingredients on time, supporting safe, efficient, and compliant production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review batch tickets/formulas to determine required raw materials and quantities.
  • Accurately weigh powders, liquids, waxes, oils, and other cosmetic ingredients using calibrated scales.
  • Prepare and label containers with material name, lot number, batch number, weight, date, and operator ID.
  • Record all weighing data (actual weights, lot numbers, variances) in batch records and/or ERP system.
  • Stage preweighed materials for compounding in the correct sequence and location.
  • Handle and store raw materials per SOPs, including allergens, fragrances, pigments, and actives.
  • Return partial containers to inventory with updated weights and labels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the preweigh room, scales, tools, and storage areas.
  • Follow GMP, hygiene, and safety procedures specific to cosmetic manufacturing at all times.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory checks of raw materials as needed.
  • Report any discrepancies, damaged materials, or equipment issues to supervision immediately.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Excel, computer experience.
  • Prior experience in cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • Basic math skills and ability to perform unit conversions (grams, kilograms, pounds).
  • Ability to read and follow batch records, SOPs, and safety data sheets in English.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation.
  • Reliability, good attendance, and ability to work in a team environment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle containers up to 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to powders, fragrances, and other cosmetic raw materials.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hair/beard nets, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
