MATERIAL COORDINATOR

Position Summary

The Material Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement, storage, inventory, shipping, and receiving of materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This position ensures that raw materials, components, finished goods, and supplies are accurately received, stored, inventoried, and delivered to the appropriate production areas in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Forklift experience is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, identify, and properly store incoming raw materials, components, and supplies.
  • Coordinate the movement of materials between receiving, warehouse, production, and shipping areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform routine cycle counts and physical inventory.
  • Verify quantities, part numbers, lot numbers, and other identifying information against purchase orders, work orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.
  • Prepare materials and components for production according to work orders and production schedules.
  • Deliver materials to production departments as needed to prevent manufacturing delays.
  • Pick, pack, label, and stage finished products and materials for shipment.
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including packing slips and bills of lading.
  • Coordinate outgoing shipments with carriers and internal departments.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Ensure materials are properly packaged, secured, labeled, and stored to prevent damage.
  • Maintain organized warehouse and material storage areas.
  • Identify and report damaged, missing, or discrepant materials.
  • Enter inventory, receiving, shipping, and material movement information into ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with corrective actions.
  • Follow established procedures for material handling, traceability, and inventory control.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and material-handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with other warehouse, inventory, shipping, and material coordination duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in materials, inventory, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred.
  • Forklift certification and demonstrated forklift operating experience required.
  • Experience with inventory control and cycle counting.
  • Ability to accurately read and verify part numbers, quantities, labels, and shipping documents.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to enter information into inventory or ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials as required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move materials and boxes.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

  • ERP/MRP or warehouse management system experience.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Experience with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
  • Manufacturing or aerospace/biopharmaceutical materials experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety requirements.

Full-time position. Schedule may vary based on production and shipping requirements.
