Job Description

Company Description:

Kolmogorov Law is a boutique firm focused on providing tailored legal solutions to small and medium-sized businesses. The firm concentrates on business litigation, offering strategic counsel to help clients navigate complex disputes efficiently and effectively. Its mission is to simplify intricate legal matters, safeguard client interests, and support sustainable business growth with practical, results-driven advice. Kolmogorov Law is committed to long-term partnerships with clients, acting as a reliable legal ally at every stage of their business journey.

Role Description:

This full-time remote Senior Litigation Counsel role focuses on managing complex business litigation matters from intake through resolution. This position requires the candidate to be physically located in California and licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California. The Senior Litigation Counsel will handle case strategy, draft and review pleadings, motions, and briefs, conduct legal research, and manage discovery, including depositions and written discovery. Daily responsibilities include advising business clients on litigation risk, settlement options, and dispute-avoidance strategies, as well as preparing clients and witnesses for hearings, mediations, and trials. The role also involves negotiating settlements, appearing in court (virtually and in person as needed) before California Superior Courts, coordinating with outside counsel or experts, and ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met. The Senior Litigation Counsel will collaborate closely with firm leadership to refine litigation strategies, improve processes, and contribute to client development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Must reside in California. Although the role is remote, the candidate must be physically located within California.
  • Licensed to practice law in California and currently in good standing with the State Bar of California. (California bar admission is required; admission in another jurisdiction alone does not satisfy this requirement.)
  • Strong foundation in business litigation, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and apply relevant California statutes, case law, and procedural rules.
  • Proven experience providing clear, practical legal advice to business clients, including risk assessment and strategic guidance in contentious matters.
  • Substantial courtroom experience, including familiarity with California Superior Courts, motions practice, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills for managing settlements, mediations, and dispute resolution in a commercially sensible, client-centered manner.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 7+ years of relevant litigation experience, preferably with a focus on business or commercial disputes.
  • Excellent legal writing, drafting, and oral advocacy skills, with meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment, managing a litigation docket, meeting deadlines, and using modern legal and collaboration technology.
  • Client-focused mindset, high professional ethics, and commitment to inclusive, respectful collaboration with colleagues and clients.
