A day in your boots
- Head to customer sites in a company-provided vehicle to diagnose and resolve issues on commercial doors, dock equipment, and related hardware.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair systems ranging from overhead and hollow metal doors to storefront glazing, low‑voltage components, and access control devices.
- Pinpoint causes of failures—springs, hinges, locks, electrical—and execute precise, code‑compliant fixes.
- Walk customers through findings, outline options, and recommend cost‑effective solutions.
- Complete meticulous documentation of service visits, repairs, installations, and required reports.
- Perform thorough quality checks to meet Vortex’s unsurpassed workmanship standards.
What you’ll work on
- Commercial door systems, docks, frames, closers, locks, handles, low‑voltage wiring, and access control.
- Hollow metal door, frame, and hardware work.

What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years’ experience in the commercial door service industry.
- AAADM certification a plus.
- Deep knowledge of door types, brands, and hardware.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools; excellent mechanical and technical skills.
- Ability to move items weighing 50 lbs. or higher.
- Comfort continuously lifting and bending, climbing ladders up to 20’ in height, working on knees for extended periods, and operating power tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills to relate to customers and resolve issues.
- Clear communicator who collaborates in any environment.
- Outstanding troubleshooting and problem‑solving capacity.
- Skilled at relaying information in a fast‑paced setting and being persuasive when necessary.
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship; reliable and self‑motivated.
- Confident performing math with fractions and reading a tape measure for precise installations.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and consistent adherence to protocols.
- Basic computer literacy.
Schedule and setting
- Full‑time shifts available between 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday; some overtime and on‑call hours are required.
- Continuous, ongoing training as you grow with Vortex.

- Ability to drive a company vehicle and possess a valid driver license.
