Location: Los Angeles, CA (In-office initially, transitioning to hybrid once department is established)
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $175,000 – $275,000 depending on experience
- Performance Bonus: 1–2% of case-based recoveries/collections

Overview
Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing plaintiff-side litigation firm, is launching a new Employment Law Practice Group and is seeking an experienced Managing Attorney to lead the division from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to build a practice area at the ground floor level within an existing, high-volume litigation environment.
The Managing Attorney will have the autonomy to structure and grow the team, including the ability to bring in a paralegal, legal assistant, and additional attorneys as needed. This role is ideal for a seasoned employment litigator who wants leadership responsibility, strategic influence, and the ability to directly shape a new practice group.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead the firm’s new Employment Law Practice Group from inception
- Develop litigation strategy, case management systems, and best practices for the department
- Oversee and actively handle plaintiff-side employment litigation matters
- Supervise and mentor attorneys, paralegals, and support staff
- Manage case portfolio including intake, strategy, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
- Collaborate with firm leadership on growth strategy and client development
- Recruit and onboard additional legal team members as the practice expands
- Ensure high-quality representation in all employment matters handled by the group
Employment Law
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in plaintiff-side employment litigation, including:
- PAGA claims
- FEHA litigation (discrimination, harassment, retaliation)
- Wage and hour class actions
- Wrongful termination
- Workplace discrimination and harassment matters
- Complex and high-value employment disputes
Qualifications
- 10–15+ years of experience as an Employment Law attorney (plaintiff-side strongly preferred)
- Proven track record handling complex employment litigation matters
- Strong experience with class actions and/or representative actions (PAGA preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership experience or readiness to step into a managing attorney role
- Based in or strongly connected to the Los Angeles legal market
- Strong litigation skills including motion practice, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation
- Ability and willingness to work in-office initially, with transition to hybrid structure once department is established
