About Us
Established California Applicant’s workers' compensation law firm seeking an experienced, professional, and organized Legal Secretary / Legal Assistant to join our team. We are looking for motivated individuals who already have experience working in California workers' compensation and can effectively support attorneys, clients, and staff.
Because a large portion of our clients are Spanish speaking, we require someone bilingual in both English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, edit, and file workers' compensation legal documents
- Manage attorney calendars, hearings, depositions, medical appointments, and deadlines
- E-file documents through EAMS
- Communicate with clients, physicians, insurance adjusters, defense counsel, and WCAB personnel
- Prepare hearing and deposition exhibits
- Maintain electronic and physical case files
- Draft correspondence and routine pleadings
- Track case status and follow up on outstanding items
- Answer phones and assist with client intake
Qualifications
Required
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Minimum 2 years of legal secretary or legal assistant experience
- Prior experience in California workers' compensation
- Knowledge of WCAB procedures and timelines
- Experience with EAMS filing system
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
Preferred
- Experience with A-1 Law workers' compensation case management software
- Experience handling medical records and lien matters
