Job Title: Assembly Supervisor

Job Description

The Assembly Supervisor oversees daily assembly operations on a fast-paced production floor, ensuring that production schedules are met while upholding high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role prioritizes workflow, coordinates jobs, and leads a team of assembly personnel through hands-on supervision, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily assembly operations to ensure production schedules and customer commitments are consistently met.
  • Prioritize workflow and coordinate jobs across the assembly line to maximize productivity and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor productivity, labor utilization, and throughput to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure proper setup and operation of automated and manual equipment used in the assembly process.
  • Verify that production output meets all specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues on the production floor and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Train, coach, and develop assembly team members on processes, safety practices, and quality expectations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support employee growth and accountability.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and ensure records reflect actual production runs.
  • Interpret job tickets, blueprints, and manufacturing instructions to guide assembly activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, shipping, and purchasing, to resolve issues and support smooth production flow.
  • Enforce safety standards and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Lead and support 5S, continuous improvement, and other operational excellence initiatives.
  • Monitor inventory levels of materials, tooling, and consumables to support uninterrupted production.

Essential Skills

  • Experience leading or supervising in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong understanding of production flow and assembly line operations.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and practical experience verifying product conformance to specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions on the production floor.
  • Experience with employee coaching, performance feedback, and team development.
  • Proficiency in managing production documentation and reporting with attention to accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to interpret job tickets, blueprints, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Exposure to Lean and 5S practices and their application in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with safety compliance requirements, including OSHA-related practices.
  • Experience working in ISO 9001 environments or similar quality management systems.

  • Experience supervising both automated equipment and manual assembly processes.
  • Background in continuous improvement initiatives within a structured production environment.
  • Comfort working closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, quality, shipping, and purchasing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and documentation requirements.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburg, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
