About the Role:
OTS is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Mechanic to support one of California's most advanced wastewater treatment and water purification facilities. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge treatment technologies, including membrane systems, reverse osmosis, UV disinfection, biological nutrient removal, and advanced water reuse processes. We're looking for a skilled mechanical professional who thrives in a complex industrial environment and is passionate about maintaining critical infrastructure that protects public health and supports sustainable water resources.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily maintenance activities and prioritize work orders
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, blowers, compressors, valves, gearboxes, and conveyance systems
- Support maintenance of membrane bioreactor (MBR), reverse osmosis (RO), UV disinfection, and advanced treatment equipment
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, contractors, and vendors to minimize downtime and maximize system reliability
- Interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, technical specifications, and OEM manuals
- Oversee equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities
- Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
- Document maintenance activities and asset history within CMMS systems
- Participate in safety programs, job hazard analyses, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior maintenance personnel
Qualifications
- Four years of full-time experience assisting in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment or construction-related repair activities
- At least one year of experience maintaining and repairing wastewater treatment equipment
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Skills
- Mechanical troubleshooting and failure analysis
- Pump alignment and seal replacement
- Bearing installation and lubrication best practices
- Reading P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
- CMMS software utilization and maintenance documentation
- Preventive and predictive maintenance planning
- Industrial safety and regulatory compliance
- Collaboration with operations and engineering teams
Preferred Skills
- Six to ten years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in wastewater treatment, advanced water purification, water reuse, industrial process facilities, or similar environments
- Experience maintaining advanced treatment systems and process equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in complex treatment facilities
- Experience supporting reliability-centered maintenance programs
Pay range and compensation package: Pay Rate: $52.93 per hour
