3rd Shift Production Worker / Laser Tech (Operator)
San Marcos, CA
$19.00 - $20.00/hr + $0.50 Shift Differential
Temp-to-Hire | Full-Time
Our machine shop in San Marcos specializes in CNC-controlled laser cutting for the electronics and medical industries. We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented 3rd Shift Production Worker / Laser Tech Operator to join our team.
Schedule
- Monday @ Midnight through Saturday @ 8:30 AM
- Possible overtime available
- Shift flexibility is a plus
- Prompt and regular attendance is required
About the Role
This is a fast-paced production environment — not an R&D lab. We work under tight schedules and need team members who can stay focused, efficient, and quality-driven.
Parts produced are typically:
- Small and fragile
- Electronics-based components
- Thin alumina ceramics
- Thin metals such as stainless steel, titanium, and copper
- Some plastics
This is NOT a warehouse position:
- No forklifts
- No heavy lifting
- No cutting fluids
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Setup, offsets, changeovers, and simple program editing experience highly desirable
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments including:

- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Depth gauges
- Indicators and scales
- Ability to read blueprints/drawings and understand shop math
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Excellent visual inspection skills for small features/components
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- English communication skills required (written and verbal)
- Ability to adapt in a fast-changing production environment
- Willingness to train on 1st shift if needed
CNC Experience?
Candidates with CNC milling experience (HAAS, Fadal, Mitsubishi, etc.) are encouraged to apply. Must be able to transfer machining skills to 2-axis laser machining centers using Aerotech controllers.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC laser machining equipment
- Load parts and set offsets
- Perform simple program edits
- Deburr and inspect finished parts
- Read and interpret drawings/specifications
- Measure and mark dimensions
- Monitor machine performance and report issues
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Perform basic preventative maintenance
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineering, quality, and production teams
- Assist with equipment startup/shutdown once trained
