The Shipping & Receiving Assistant is responsible for accurately handling and documenting all incoming and outgoing shipments. This role ensures that all products are received, shipped, stored, and recorded in good condition. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and proficiency in Excel are essential. The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday off.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify all incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing physical product counts with documentation.
- Inspect products for damage, shortages, or quality issues and clearly note any discrepancies on receiving/shipping paperwork.
- Confirm pallet integrity for all Fresh Catch and Cross Dock deliveries.
- Ensure appropriate icing of products upon arrival and as directed.
- Record and monitor product and truck temperatures upon receipt.
- Review customer packing lists and verify the contents of pallets prior to shipping.
- Conduct daily walk-through of cooler/freezer to ensure timely and accurate product movement.
- Prepare Bills of Lading and other shipping documentation accurately and in a timely manner (Excel).
- Stage, verify, and prepare Cross Dock shipments prior to loading.
- Complete and upload all receiving documentation to the company drive promptly.
- Assist with product movement and organization within the cooler as needed.
- Support product release to Production when required.
- Safely operate an electric pallet jack and stand-up forklift (certification preferred).
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong math and record-keeping skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in cold and wet environments for extended periods.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain an organized workflow.
- Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
