Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax engagements, provide technical expertise, and support the continued growth of our tax practice. This role is ideal for a CPA with a strong public accounting background who enjoys managing client relationships, mentoring staff, and delivering high-quality tax solutions. The successful candidate will oversee multiple engagements while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and oversee the preparation of federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by developing and maintaining strong client relationships and gaining an understanding of each client's business and industry.
- Research complex tax matters and prepare technical memorandums, correspondence, and other documentation for tax authorities when required.
- Provide guidance and technical support to tax professionals, including coaching, training, and mentoring team members.
- Supervise staff performance, delegate work effectively, and support employee development.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Monitor engagement profitability while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
- Contribute to business development efforts by identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and support firm growth.
- Stay current on changes in federal and state tax regulations and communicate relevant updates to the team.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license required.
- Master's degree in Taxation is preferred.
- Minimum of six years of recent public accounting experience with a national, regional, or technically advanced local CPA firm.
- At least two years of experience leading or supervising tax professionals.
- Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, corporate, and trust taxation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with tax software; familiarity with CCH Axcess Tax is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
