Job Description

The Process Technician plays a key role in the manufacture of specialty chemicals and nanomaterials in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment. This position supports the synthesis and processing of advanced materials under the guidance of senior scientists and engineers, ensuring high-quality output through careful adherence to standard operating procedures and safety protocols. The role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in material synthesis and manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for contributing directly to innovative products used in transparent conductive films.

Responsibilities

  • Run manufacturing operations to produce nanomaterials in accordance with established production plans and quality standards.
  • Operate purification, blending, filtering, and other related process equipment strictly following detailed standard operating procedures.
  • Follow precise instructions for the manufacture of high-quality nanomaterial-based products and ensure consistency across batches.
  • Assist with material handling and packaging, adhering to detailed operating parameters and collecting relevant QC/QA data for documentation and analysis.
  • Assist with the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and gases, consistently applying appropriate safety practices and protocols.
  • Provide input to the production team on opportunities for process, quality, and capacity improvements based on observations and data.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance tasks to support reliable and efficient operation of manufacturing systems.
  • Exhibit and promote safe working and housekeeping practices, maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support overall production and team objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Science or a related field with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic understanding of material synthesis and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience or strong comfort with chemical handling and basic chemistry concepts.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards, with acute attention to detail in all aspects of production and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to record data, label samples, and document observations meticulously and clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to lift and handle weights up to 50 lbs and repeatedly lift approximately 35 lb drums throughout the workday.
  • Willingness and ability to wear full personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, as required by processes and safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as reactors, temperature controllers, and mixers is a plus.
  • Experience with reactor blending and processing is a plus.
  • Strong interest in the manufacture of chemicals and advanced materials, particularly nanomaterials.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback on process and quality improvements.
  • Comfort working in a rapidly growing start-up environment where contributions have a direct impact on product lines and company success.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production and laboratory setting focused on the manufacture of specialty nanomaterials and transparent conductive film products. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work involves frequent handling of chemicals and materials, including lifting approximately 35 lb drums multiple times per day, and may require lifting up to 50 lbs. Employees wear full PPE and respirators as needed to safely handle hazardous chemicals and gases, and are expected to follow rigorous safety and housekeeping practices. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with close interaction between technicians, scientists, and engineers in a multi-disciplinary team. As part of a rapidly growing start-up setting, the contributions of the Process Technician directly and significantly influence the product line and the organization’s position as a leader in transparent conductive films.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hayward, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.11 - $33.96/hr.
