Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to join a fast-paced litigation practice on a Contract basis in California. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented legal specialist with a strong foundation in employment law and a proven ability to manage disputes across civil and contract-related matters. The role involves supporting defense-oriented cases in both state and federal courts while providing practical legal guidance on workplace and business issues.
Responsibilities:
• Provide counsel on employment-related issues such as workplace policies, internal investigations, disciplinary actions, separations, and compliance questions.
• Oversee litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution, including drafting pleadings, coordinating discovery, preparing motions, and supporting trial readiness.
• Prepare and answer written discovery documents, including interrogatories, document requests, and subpoenas, with close attention to deadlines and case strategy.
• Participate in depositions, settlement discussions, and other key litigation activities to advance defense-side case objectives.
• Contribute to legal strategy by managing court filings, motion practice, and day-to-day case progression in state and federal venues.
• Draft, analyze, and negotiate contracts and related legal agreements to support client business needs.
• Handle matters involving employment, commercial, and insurance disputes while maintaining organized and responsive case management.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to communicate legal risks, recommend solutions, and support successful matter outcomes.• Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in good standing.
• Between 5 and 7 years of legal practice experience, including substantial work in employment law.
• Demonstrated background in civil litigation and contract drafting or negotiation.
• Experience supporting commercial, insurance, or employment-related disputes.
• Working knowledge of state and federal court procedures, with defense-side litigation experience preferred.
• Strong legal writing skills, including experience preparing motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
• Sound judgment, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills in a deadline-driven legal environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
