Sea West Enterprises Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our Specialty Construction Division. This position will work directly with the Division Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of highly specialized projects located throughout the United States, including astronomical observatories and communication stations for government, educational, commercial, and high-profile research clients.
The ideal candidate is an intrapreneurial professional who is eager to learn the technical aspects of this rapidly growing industry and contribute to the continued success and growth of our Specialty Division. This role is ideal for a motivated construction professional who enjoys solving complex problems, taking ownership of projects, and working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from award through closeout.
- Assist the Division Manager with planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and project execution.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, engineers, and field personnel, including out-of-state subcontractors and project partners.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and contract compliance.
- Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
- Review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Attend project meetings with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate material procurement and equipment deliveries for local and out-of-state projects.
- Conduct job site visits to monitor quality, safety, and project progress, including out-of-state projects, when necessary.
- Support successful project closeout, including punch lists, final documentation, and client turnover.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients while professionally representing the Company.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of project management experience in commercial construction for a general contractor.
- Proven experience managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, including scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor management, procurement, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders, including out-of-state subcontractors and remote project teams.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and proactively manage project challenges.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and a commitment to delivering quality projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and experience with Procore.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Division Manager and project team.
- Intrapreneurial mindset with the initiative and desire to learn the technical aspects of observatories, communication stations, and other specialized construction projects.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically for project meetings, site visits, and coordination with field teams.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and be approved to drive under the Company's commercial automobile insurance policy.
- Must possess and maintain identification acceptable for domestic air travel in accordance with TSA requirements
- Must successfully pass a federal background investigation and obtain authorization for access to military installations and other secure federal facilities as required for project assignments.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide documentation verifying employment eligibility.
