Summary:
Guest Service Associate is charged with providing guest services with messaging tailored toward what activities, exhibitions, and programming are offered. Ensures the museum’s protocols are always followed, including but not limited to ticketing, cash handling, guest safety, and general housekeeping. Assists staff with public outreach and education programs including evening, weekend, and offsite events. Provides all other aspects of a customer service role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Welcomes guests at the admission kiosk and provide guest services with a positive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Process museum fees of cash, checks, or credit cards correctly and efficiently.
- Operate POS systems, cash registers, and additional transaction equipment.
- Respond to guest questions and concerns by explaining museum policies, exhibitions, programs, and events or directing them to appropriate museum staff.
- Observe guests in exhibit halls and help direct guests to ensure all safety protocols and regulations are observed.
- Perform general maintenance of the museum and assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of outreach and education programs including group tours.
- Assist with museum programming, store inventory, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required
- Experience: None required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Knowledge in science, museums, natural history, and paleontology. Associate or bachelor’s degree in science, education, or related academic discipline.
- Experience: Previous guest service or cashier experience. Background in science communication or education. Experience working with children and families.
Core Competencies/Skills:
- Detail orientated with strong cash-handling abilities.
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work professionally and independently in an environment with large groups and families.
- Able to effectively communicate with visitors, campus staff, faculty, and students.
Other Requirements:
- A criminal background check must be successfully completed before employment can begin. Must be able to work at least three days and weekends with a variable schedule as needed by the museum’s programs and events schedule.

The estimated pay scale represents the typical pay range The Webb Schools reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale applies to the current posting only.
