The Opportunity

As a Director at Elle Communications, you'll lead strategic communications efforts for organizations, brands, and changemakers working to create meaningful social and environmental progress.


Working closely with our senior leadership team, you'll develop and execute integrated communications strategies that elevate influential voices, shape cultural conversations, and drive measurable impact. This is a unique role that sits at the intersection of earned media and celebrity/influencer relations, with responsibilities split equally between the two. We're looking for someone who is deeply connected in both worlds and enjoys moving between them, whether that's securing top-tier media coverage, building relationships with journalists, developing creator partnerships, or identifying opportunities to engage talent and cultural influencers.


The ideal candidate brings experience working with mission-driven brands, nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, public figures, creators, and entertainment talent. You understand how to leverage media, celebrity, influencer, and cultural partnerships together to create campaigns that are relevant, compelling, and capable of reaching audiences at scale.


This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles, with the expectation of working from our office on Wednesdays.


What You'll Do

  • Develop PR strategy: Lead integrated communications strategies across earned media, celebrity, creator, and influencer relations. Ensure programs are executed effectively, driving measurable results and client KPIs.
  • Manage client relationships: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to clients, building strong partnerships, identifying opportunities, and ensuring exceptional service and results.
  • Lead media and talent engagement: Leverage and expand relationships with journalists, creators, celebrities, agents, managers, and cultural influencers to secure meaningful media coverage, thought leadership opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Drive campaign impact: Develop creative, culturally relevant campaigns that integrate media relations, talent partnerships, and influencer engagement to advance client goals and elevate visibility.
  • Oversee team performance: Coach, mentor, and develop team members while serving as a subject matter expert in communications strategy, media relations, and talent partnerships. Where necessary, also support Associate Directors on client management, project leadership, and KPI delivery.
  • Ensure excellence in execution: Provide strategic oversight and quality control across accounts, ensuring all client deliverables, media outreach, and communications materials meet Elle's standards of excellence.
  • Lead account operations: Oversee project management and cross-functional collaboration across all assigned accounts to ensure work is delivered on time, on budget, and aligned with client objectives.
  • Support agency growth: Partner with agency leadership on business development, proposal creation, strategic workforce planning, and identifying opportunities for agency and client growth.
  • Contribute thought leadership: Stay ahead of trends across media, entertainment, creator marketing, culture, and social impact, bringing fresh insights and strategic perspective to clients and the agency.


Your Experience

  • 8-10+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or integrated marketing, preferably within an agency environment.
  • Strong experience leading both earned media and celebrity/influencer relations programs.
  • Established relationships with journalists, producers, talent representatives, creators, influencers, and entertainment industry contacts.
  • Experience working with nonprofits, foundations, mission-driven brands, entertainment talent, or social impact campaigns.
  • Proven ability to develop integrated strategies that combine media, talent, and cultural influence to drive results.
  • Experience managing clients, leading teams, and mentoring talent.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • A passion for social and environmental impact and a desire to help organizations tell stories that matter.

In addition to our workplace culture, we offer $85,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise in media relations, celebrity and influencer engagement, and client leadership.
