Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience

A prestigious restaurant group operating a high-end sushi brand in San Francisco is seeking an experienced Executive Sushi Chef to lead its sushi program.

This is a leadership position responsible for maintaining exceptional, Michelin-level standards while overseeing sushi operations, menu development, ingredient sourcing, cost control, and team development.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in high-end Japanese cuisine and sushi, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest standards for sushi and sashimi quality, preparation, and presentation
  • Develop seasonal menus, omakase offerings, and new sushi concepts
  • Oversee seafood and ingredient sourcing while maintaining strong quality standards
  • Manage food costs, inventory, and waste control
  • Recruit, train, develop, and manage sushi kitchen staff
  • Improve kitchen operations, workflow, and overall efficiency
  • Maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and quality-control standards
  • Ensure consistency and excellence across all sushi offerings
  • Collaborate with restaurant management to maintain an exceptional guest experience

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of professional sushi chef experience
  • Previous experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, or similar culinary leadership role
  • Experience in high-end sushi restaurants or Michelin-level dining environments strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of traditional Japanese sushi techniques, fish preparation, and Japanese cuisine
  • Proven experience managing and developing kitchen teams
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Japanese and English bilingual skills preferred; ability to communicate effectively in English required

Compensation$100,000–$120,000 per yearFinal compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
