Associate Attorney - Medical Malpractice Defense

This is a full-time, on-site Associate Attorney position based in Glendale, California. The Associate Attorney will support the firm's medical malpractice defense practice and will manage cases from intake through resolution.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
· Conducting legal research and analysis
· Attending court hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings
· Reviewing and evaluating medical records and expert reports
· Communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other stakeholders
· Developing case strategy in collaboration with supervising attorneys
· Participating in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution
· Ensuring compliance with all deadlines, court rules, and procedural requirements
The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's partners, attorneys, and support staff to provide effective and efficient legal representation.
Qualifications
· One to three years of experience in the defense of personal injury litigation
· Strong foundation in civil litigation, including experience or coursework related to medical malpractice
· Knowledge of Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse law, Labor and Employment law, and related regulatory frameworks is beneficial for broader case exposure
· Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to clients and internal stakeholders
· Strong legal research skills, including case law, statutes, regulations, and medical literature review
· Effective negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediations, and case resolution
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
· Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing
· Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, including experience drafting complex legal documents and presenting arguments in court
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
· Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
· Prior experience in medical malpractice, personal injury, or insurance defense is preferred but not required
