Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Elder Abuse Litigation Attorney to join our growing litigation team. This role is ideal for an attorney with substantial experience handling nursing home, long-term care, healthcare facility, and wrongful death matters who is passionate about advocating for vulnerable individuals and their families.The successful candidate will independently manage a caseload from inception through trial while working closely with support staff, experts, and fellow attorneys to maximize client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage elder abuse and related litigation matters from pre-suit through trial
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal briefs
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials throughout California
  • Review and analyze medical records, facility records, and related evidence
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and litigation support professionals
  • Develop litigation strategy and case valuation assessments
  • Prepare pre-trial filings, witness materials, and trial exhibits
  • Work closely with paralegals, case managers, and support staff
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case developments
  • Advocate aggressively while maintaining exceptional client service standards

Qualifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
  • Significant litigation experience with the ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
  • Experience handling plaintiff-side elder abuse, neglect, and wrongful death matters
  • Experience litigating claims involving nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare providers
  • Familiarity with elder abuse statutes and related claims involving:
    • Pressure injuries and bed sores
    • Falls and supervision failures
    • Dehydration and malnutrition
    • Sepsis and infection-related claims
    • Medication errors
    • Medical neglect and inadequate care
  • Experience reviewing complex medical records
  • Strong deposition, mediation, motions practice, and courtroom skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Commitment to client advocacy, professionalism, and achieving meaningful results
