It is the goal of Primex Farms to produce safe food products. The Food Safety Quality 3 function aims to ensure that the product produced meets quality and food safety Regulations. This position is responsible for assisting the quality manager in all aspects of the food safety program and to make sure all testing is verified and completed.

Quality 3 personnel will be required to follow company GMP, HACCP, food defense, allergen, hygienic zoning and other food safety requirements. This position will also require that all Primex Safety practices be followed such as wearing appropriate PPE.

  1. SKILL REQUIREMENTS FOR Q3

4.1 Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Basic reading and writing abilities. Math and report writing abilities. Bilingual a plus.
  2. Able to perform complex math problems. Generate reports. Standing, sitting and walking 8-12 hour days. Lifting and carrying 25-50 lb boxes. Must be capable of following complex procedures.

  1. Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with supervisors/leads, managers, USDA, inspectors, auditors, and all other departments.
  2. Must have the ability work together as a team to ensure the highest quality products in the most efficient manner for our customers.
  3. Must be flexible with work hours and able to multi task.
  4. Documentation Role: Basic computer skills and able to use basic Microsoft word and Excel.


  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties not on this document may be requested by supervisor or managers


Responsibilities:

  1. Verify all products shipped adhere to Primex, customer (call off and specification), USDA, FDA, Food Safety and Legal requirements. This includes verification of labels, packaging, microbiological and chemical specifications.
  2. Sample Collection in a fast paced environment. This includes aseptic collection of samples for microbiological analysis.
  3. Coordinate testing for Aflatoxin and USDA
  4. Prepare and ship samples to be tested for micro and chemistry
  5. Coordinate and prepare samples that return from treatment for all necessary testing.
  6. Verifying product category and pounds are correct prior to posting license plates
  7. Printing and posting license plates for all product
  8. Recognize and report defects in both inshell and shelled product.
  9. Record results and data accurately on written and/or electronic forms as directed
  10. Halt production when necessary.
  11. Perform Pre start up line checks.
  12. Perform Post Sanitation and environmental swabbing of equipment and areas in the plant as scheduled
  13. Perform Pre and Post Maintenance inspections and releases.
  14. Reviewing CCP logs for accuracy and non conformities and issuing holds when necessary.
  15. Informing production operators of noncompliance
  16. Verifying scales, moisture machines and metal detectors are in working order and taking corrective action when necessary
  17. Performing Cost Analysis on product
  18. Aid with physical inventory by verifying product pounds and categories, including product on hold
  19. Aid with investigations for customer complaints
  20. Collect, record, and photograph magnet findings

  1. Report incidents that pertain but are not limited to: allergens, metal detector failures, pest control, foreign material findings
  2. Prepare documentation for release of orders. This includes verification of accuracy and the uploading of documents into appropriate folders
  3. Request revision of certificates from external laboratory
  4. Checking employees for GMP compliance and SOP compliance
  5. Informing management of problems in product safety or quality including daily shift reports pertaining to new Hold generation and Hold product disposition.
  6. Notify management of ongoing / unresolved problems with food safety quality, and legality
  7. Follow company and safety policies and procedures at all times.
  8. Report safety concerns and hazardous conditions to management
  9. Fill in for Q2 and Q1 as needed in case of absence.
  10. Assist in training new Q1 and Q2
  11. Aid Documentation QA as needed.
  12. Adhere to all GMP’s and report violations to management
  13. Aid in performing root cause analysis
  14. Aid in performing internal audits and provide audit support
  15. Serves as the backup for Quality Supervisor in case of absence: Release/Inspect lines, hold product, release of product
  16. Communicate respectfully with all departments and staff at all levels both verbally, in writing, and in email communication.
  17. Review product results to ensure quality, grade, microbiological, and chemical specifications are met.
  18. Upload and organize results into appropriate files and into NAV system.
  19. Review and upload documents into NAV for lots and sales order.
  20. Report USDA, Inspection, Microbiological, and Chemical results to appropriate parties
  21. New responsibilities may be added.
