J&Y Law is a rapidly growing Plaintiff’s Personal Injury and Elder Abuse law firm based in Los Angeles, California. We are currently seeking an experienced Elder Abuse Attorney Associate with a strong background in nursing home and healthcare facility litigation to join our dynamic and mission-driven team.
Our firm is dedicated to advocating for vulnerable elderly clients and holding nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and healthcare providers accountable for abuse, neglect, and wrongful death. We are looking for an attorney who is passionate about litigation, client advocacy, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of families throughout California.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have significant experience handling plaintiff-side elder abuse litigation matters involving:
- Nursing homes
- Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs)
- Assisted living facilities
- Hospitals and rehabilitation centers
- Wrongful death and medical neglect claims
Candidates should have strong litigation experience and be comfortable independently managing complex cases from inception through trial.
Preferred Experience Includes:
- Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act (EADACPA)
- Pressure injuries/bed sores
- Falls and supervision negligence
- Dehydration, malnutrition, and sepsis cases
- Medication error and overmedication claims
- Wrongful death litigation
- Medical record review and analysis
- Depositions of nurses, administrators, PMKs, and medical providers
- Trial preparation and courtroom appearances
- Motions practice, including motions to compel and motions in limine
- Mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
Responsibilities
- Manage elder abuse litigation cases from pre-litigation through trial
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal briefs
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials throughout California
- Work closely with medical experts and litigation support teams
- Review and analyze complex medical records and facility documentation
- Develop case strategy and maximize recovery for clients
- Lead and collaborate with paralegals, case managers, and support staff
Requirements
- Active admission to the California State Bar
- 5+ years of plaintiff-side elder abuse or nursing home litigation experience preferred
- Strong litigation, deposition, and courtroom experience
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment
- Passion for advocating for injured and vulnerable clients
- Leadership mentality and ability to mentor/support team members
