We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Lab Technician to support product development, testing, and prototyping activities in a regulated laboratory environment. This role involves assembling and fabricating components, executing test protocols, documenting results, and supporting failure investigations while adhering to established quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a foundational understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and basic hand and machine tools.
- Use common hand tools and machine tools to modify components and fabricate parts.
- Assemble prototype devices, subsystems, fixtures, and test equipment.
- Set up and execute pre-defined test protocols with moderate supervision.
- Accurately capture, document, and organize test data using good documentation practices.
- Perform basic statistical analysis and summarize test results.
- Identify, investigate, and document failures; promptly communicate issues to supervisors.
- Support failure analysis and contribute to root cause investigations.
- Apply analytical or scientific methods within assigned operational processes (e.g., manufacturing support, materials handling, logistics, or testing).
- Expand skills and techniques within a designated technical skill area or process.
- Work within clearly defined SOPs and adhere to quality system and safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills
- Working knowledge of hand tools, machine tools, and basic fabrication techniques.
- Understanding of how basic systems interact within products or test environments.
- Ability to follow prescribed steps and protocols with attention to detail.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a lab or production environment with structured processes.
- Ability to work effectively with moderate supervision.
Work Environment & Expectations
- This position is based in a laboratory setting. For safety and data integrity, personal phone and earbud use is not permitted during lab work.
- Regular and reliable attendance is critical to meeting project schedules and milestones.
Supervision
- Works under moderate supervision with clear direction and defined procedures.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
