Job Title: Avionics PCBA Technician
PAY: $35-$57
Job Description
This role focuses on performing advanced avionics printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), rework, and testing activities in support of satellite and spacecraft development projects. You will work with high‑reliability electronics in a manufacturing environment, following detailed engineering specifications and strict IPC standards to ensure mission-critical performance and quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced avionics PCBA assembly, rework, and testing activities for satellite and spacecraft development projects in accordance with engineering specifications and IPC standards.
- Carry out PCBA rework and high‑reliability electronics repair, ensuring boards meet stringent performance and quality requirements.
- Execute SMT soldering on fine‑pitch surface mount components, maintaining precision and consistency across complex assemblies.
- Perform micro‑soldering and precision work under a microscope to assemble, repair, and modify delicate electronic components.
- Conduct BGA and CSP rework, including advanced package removal and replacement, while preserving board integrity.
- Troubleshoot at the component level to isolate electrical faults, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Perform failure analysis to identify defects, diagnose issues, and document findings for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards for high‑reliability electronics throughout all work performed.
- Apply underfilling and staking techniques to reinforce structural components and improve mechanical robustness.
- Repair traces, pads, and vias to restore PCB functionality and address damage from manufacturing or rework processes.
- Work effectively in an electronics manufacturing and PCB assembly environment, coordinating with engineering and production teams.
- Use oscilloscopes to analyze signals, support debugging workflows, and verify correct circuit operation.
- Interpret and follow electrical schematics to understand circuit design, guide builds, and support accurate rework and modifications.
- Perform harnessing tasks, including connector, wiring, and cable rework, to ensure reliable interconnects and assemblies.
- Operate within cleanroom and ESD‑controlled environments, following handling and safety protocols to protect sensitive electronics.
- Maintain high productivity over a 3–6 month period to help the team meet critical deadline milestones and project deliverables.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on satellite, spacecraft, or other high‑reliability aerospace electronics projects.
- Comfort working closely with engineering teams to interpret specifications and support design intent.
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus in all assembly and rework tasks.
- Ability to document work clearly and follow established processes and procedures.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and timelines in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $54.00/hr.
