Job Description
The Assembler reads blueprints, technical drawings, or work orders to determine how a product should be built. They use hand tools, power tools, and automated machinery to align, fit, and secure parts together. The primary focus is safety, efficiency, and ensuring the final product functions correctly before it leaves the factory floor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Assembly
- Fasten parts together using bolts, screws, rivets, clips, or adhesives.
- Utilize a wide range of tools, including power drills, pneumatic screwdrivers, torque wrenches, and basic hand tools.
- Position, align, and adjust components manually or by using hoists and cranes for heavier parts.
2. Quality Control
- Inspect incoming parts for damage or defects before starting the assembly process.
- Use measuring tools (rulers, calipers, tape measures) to ensure pieces fit together within acceptable tolerances.
- Conduct basic functional testing on the finished product (e.g., checking if mechanical parts move freely or if an electrical circuit connects).
3. Production Efficiency & Maintenance
- Meet daily or hourly production quotas on an assembly line.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards (5S workplace organization standards).
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on tools and report faulty machinery to supervisors.
