Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Arbitration Associate to join a growing plaintiff-side employment law practice with a primary focus on mass arbitration matters involving wage and hour claims. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced employment litigator who enjoys substantive advocacy, high-volume case management, and helping build scalable systems within a rapidly expanding arbitration department.

Working closely with department leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing a substantial arbitration caseload while contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm's arbitration practice.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of wage and hour arbitration matters
  • Draft and review arbitration demands, motions, briefs, and related filings
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation and arbitration strategies
  • Represent clients in arbitration hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
  • Ensure compliance with AAA, JAMS, and other arbitration provider rules and procedures
  • Handle mass and batch arbitration matters from inception through resolution
  • Collaborate with department leadership to improve workflows, templates, and best practices
  • Monitor case progress and provide regular updates regarding strategy and outcomes
  • Work closely with support staff and attorneys to efficiently manage a large volume of matters

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar membership in good standing
  • 4+ years of employment law experience
  • Significant experience handling wage and hour litigation and arbitration matters
  • Experience with PAGA claims and California employment law
  • Hands-on experience managing high-volume or mass arbitration dockets
  • Familiarity with AAA and JAMS arbitration procedures, including mass arbitration protocols
  • Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive approach to case management

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation Range: $150,000 – $200,000
