Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Arbitration Associate to join a growing plaintiff-side employment law practice with a primary focus on mass arbitration matters involving wage and hour claims. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced employment litigator who enjoys substantive advocacy, high-volume case management, and helping build scalable systems within a rapidly expanding arbitration department.
Working closely with department leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing a substantial arbitration caseload while contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm's arbitration practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume caseload of wage and hour arbitration matters
- Draft and review arbitration demands, motions, briefs, and related filings
- Prepare and respond to written discovery
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation and arbitration strategies
- Represent clients in arbitration hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Ensure compliance with AAA, JAMS, and other arbitration provider rules and procedures
- Handle mass and batch arbitration matters from inception through resolution
- Collaborate with department leadership to improve workflows, templates, and best practices
- Monitor case progress and provide regular updates regarding strategy and outcomes
- Work closely with support staff and attorneys to efficiently manage a large volume of matters
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar membership in good standing
- 4+ years of employment law experience
- Significant experience handling wage and hour litigation and arbitration matters
- Experience with PAGA claims and California employment law
- Hands-on experience managing high-volume or mass arbitration dockets
- Familiarity with AAA and JAMS arbitration procedures, including mass arbitration protocols
- Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive approach to case management
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation Range: $150,000 – $200,000
